I've connected a Seagate FreeAgent Desk 1.5TB External Hard Drive to my Acer Aspire Revo 3610 via USB 2.0 for extra storage at my home theater. The drive seems to be speedy enough. However, the ST315005FDA2E1-RK model I purchased from the local Wal-Mart doesn't expressly say if it is a 7200RPM drive or not like the very similar ST315005FDG201-RK does. On the Seagate site, the model I'm using only states "N/A" under RPM. Otherwise, the drive performs well and spins down after a few minutes of none use.

The slim, silver look is great and the white LED lighted design on the front compliments the Acer.
I moved my iTunes library onto the drive from my old XP laptop. However the 64-bit Windows version of iTunes didn't seem to perform as well as I would have liked on the Acer though. Also, I don't want to loose the current configurations on my Nano and Touch iPods and the moment which would both have to be erased to sync to a "new" library. Maybe when I finally get a true replacement for my primary computer system will I attempt transferring iTunes off my current system. Until then, I will use the Seagate to make backups of the Acer and store media files on it for playback on my home theater.
Lastly, I got a 2-year product care plan just in case. Seagate has a 5-year warranty on the drive.
YMMV
I reinstalled the Windows 7 64-bit version of iTunes directly onto the Seagate. I then enabled Home Sharing on it and the iTunes on my HP laptop. I can share movies and music but they are all listed together under a single shared tab and album art is disabled. Videos play OK but don't look very good on the big screen.
Over the past weekend, Sunday March 14th, I have restored a backup of my iTunes library from another computer onto the Seagate drive and Acer Aspire Revo computer. Post
